More local observations. Better ground truth.
Weather decisions happen at the scale of a field, a ridge, a port, a substation or a neighborhood. Global models and satellites are essential, but they cannot observe everything. WeatherXM makes local observations practical, and turns them into usable ground truth for real-world decisions.
The physical reality
Forecast coverage and observation coverage are not the same thing.
A forecast model produces a continuous picture of the atmosphere. An observation exists only where a sensor is installed, connected and maintained. More measurements expose the local variation hidden between grid points — and make it possible to judge how well the forecast represents reality.
National meteorological services, satellites and numerical models remain essential. WeatherXM complements them with a dense, deployable layer of local measurements.
Continuous field, misses some local variation.
High quality, but widely spaced.
Reveals what happens between grid points.
Deployment engineering
Affordable hardware makes density practical.
Density is a deployment problem: instruments, connectivity, power and installation must work at that site, for years. WeatherXM offers Wi-Fi, LoRaWAN, cellular and mesh options so deployments fit the location rather than forcing every location into one architecture.
Enterprise evaluation
One commercial relationship for the data buyer.
Who am I buying from, and who is accountable for the data?
WeatherXM AG provides the commercial interface. It licenses Network Dataset access from the independent WeatherXM Network Association, applies its commercial quality and delivery processes, and provides data and services to customers under one agreement. Network participation, rewards and governance remain with the Association.
Infrastructure flow
From the instrument to your application.
Edge sensing
Sensors record local conditions and supported devices attach evidence of origin.
Field transport
The site's communications path carries observations to the network.
Quality logic
Observation and deployment checks separate useful data from problems.
Multi-channel access
Apps, APIs, datasets and forecast evaluation put observations to work.
Forecast verification
A forecast deserves an observed result.
Don't guess which forecast is best. Measure it.
FACT compares a forecast archived before an event with observations collected afterward at the same place and time. Performance becomes measurable by location, variable and lead time instead of asserted as a general accuracy claim.
Quality physics
Match the evidence to the decision.
A well-sited station and a sheltered rooftop station observe different things. Wind exposure, nearby structures, rain-gauge behavior, icing and regional redundancy all affect how an observation should be interpreted.
We publish these limitations rather than smoothing over them. Quality processes can identify problems; they cannot recover weather a sensor never measured. Commercial deployments therefore start with the locations, variables and acceptance criteria the decision requires.
Consumption
Physical observations. Software-ready.
The same observation can inform a control-room operator, research workflow or autonomous agent. WeatherXM exposes observations through apps, APIs and machine-native interfaces — each resolving back to a physical instrument in the field.
